World Population Day is an annual event, observed on July 11, which seeks to raise awareness of global population issues.  Government Council of the United Nations Development Programme established the event in 1987 when Five Billion child was born.

Reproductive health is at the very heart of development and crucial to delivering the UNFPA vision — a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.

The world population on July 9, 2012 (As of 6.31 UTC), was estimated to have been 7,025,071,966 people.
